Carlee Baldwin is an accomplished mezzo-soprano, actress, and director. In 2019, she graduated with her Bachelor’s Degree in Theater Arts Performance from Utah Valley University (UVU), where she emphasized in musical theater and studied voice with Dr. Melissa Heath. In 2023, she received her Masters in Music Performance degree from Indiana University South Bend (IUSB) where she studied vocal performance and opera with Dr. Emanuel Caraman.
Carlee has a passion to perform and share that talent with others. Some of her performance credits include: Calchas in Oresteia, Margaret in Light in the Piazza, Sarah in Guys and Dolls, Joanne in Company, Irena in I Never Saw Another Butterfly, Seamstress in Downpour, and Annabel in Lucky Stiff. Carlee has also choreographed and directed several shows through UVU’s Theater for Youth and Education (TYE) Center. Those credits include: Into the Woods Jr. (assistant director), Lion King Jr. (assistant director), Mary Poppins Jr. (choreographer), and Aladdin Jr. (choreographer). Carlee also taught musical theater essentials and voice to the young artists at the TYE Center. In their 2022-2023 season, Carlee was happy to join South Bend Lyric Opera as a performer and director. She assistant directed and performed in Mozart’s opera Don Giovanni, and later directed the world premiere of a new opera called The Gift by Paul Herman.
Carlee has competed twice at the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival as an Irene Ryan nominee. In 2018, Carlee was recognized by UVU’s Women’s Success Center for her accomplishments in the arts, and was awarded their Degree For Life Scholarship. During her graduate studies, Carlee received the Arts Excellence Award in Music and was recognized for her dedication and creative achievements. She has taken part in many master classes with prestigious individuals such as Sierra Boggess and Libby Larsen. In addition to years of contemporary dance and ballet training, Carlee has also participated in a Frantic Assembly workshop, a devised theater class, and other movement workshops throughout her career.
One of the most exciting achievements was the premiere of Assembly, a new and original musical written and composed by Carlee. She was happy to collaborate with many individuals and students on the project which was workshopped in 2022 and had it’s world premiere in March of 2023. Carlee is happily married to her husband Dallin, who supports her dreams and aspirations. Together they enjoy traveling, cooking, film/TV, all things Disney, and playing with their two goldendoodles, Gilmore and Norman.
